Live termites in a broken patch of the mud sheeting on a tree trunk in Rawang
Termite mud covering a garden tree in Rawang from the soil upwards
What we found. The trunk of this garden tree was coated in termite mud from the soil up to where it branches, and the mud continued up the branches. Where a patch of the mud was opened, live termites were moving underneath. Mud sheeting this extensive means a large subterranean colony has been feeding on the tree for some time.
Why it matters for the house. The tree stands beside the house, and a colony feeding on a garden tree can also forage into the building through the soil and up the walls. That's why we check the house as well as the tree. See termites in trees: signs and what to do.
What we did. The tree was treated on the same visit. We'll update this report with the result.
