Kajang and the towns around it have grown fast, with large new townships, older tamans in the town centre and a lot of homes close to hills, forest reserves and former plantation land. That combination keeps termites busy, and it keeps us busy too.
If you have found termites, WhatsApp us a photo and your taman or township. We'll arrange a free inspection and give you a quotation once we have seen the problem.
Termites in Kajang, Bangi and Semenyih homes
Many newer homes in this area sit on land that was rubber or oil palm estate, or close to forested hills. Termite colonies were already established in that soil. When we inspect houses only a few years old in places like Semenyih or Bandar Baru Bangi, it is common to find termites in kitchen cabinets, door frames and wooden flooring.
Older homes in Kajang town and the established tamans often have timber roof structures and have been renovated or extended over the years, which creates entry points at the joints between old and new slabs.
Seri Kembangan and Sungai Long add more condominiums and apartments to the mix. Termites can reach upper floors through planter boxes, wall cavities and service shafts, so we inspect high-rise homes as well.
Termite damage inside a cabinet
Signs of termites in Kajang homes
Termites work out of sight, so most homeowners only notice them once there is damage. These are the signs our technicians look for first during an inspection.
1
Mud tubes on walls
Pencil-width tunnels of soil on walls, floors, pillars or foundations. Termites build them to stay moist while they travel between the soil and your house.
2
Tunnels under tiles and timber
Lift a loose floor tile or move timber that touches the ground and you may find soil trails or galleries underneath. Subterranean termites live and travel underground.
3
Holes in garden trees
Termites hollow out tree trunks, stumps and roots. Small holes or soil-filled cracks in a trunk usually mean a colony is close to the house.
4
Soil packed into cracks
Soil pressed into cracks, joints or gaps around door and window frames. Termites seal openings this way to keep out light and dry air.
5
Hollow-sounding wood
Tap door frames, skirting boards and cabinets. Wood that sounds papery or gives under a screwdriver is often eaten from the inside. You may also hear faint clicking in walls.
6
Frass (termite droppings)
Tiny pellets that look like sawdust or coffee grounds, often under furniture or door frames. This points to drywood termites inside the timber.
7
Discarded wings
Small wings of equal size near windows, lights or door sills. Flying termites (alates, or kelkatu) shed them after swarming, usually at dusk after rain.
Spraying kills the termites you can see. Sentricon® goes after the whole colony, including the queen, so the problem doesn't come back from the same nest.
1
Free inspection
We find where termites are active, how they are getting in and what has been damaged, then give you a quotation. No obligation.
2
Bait stations go in
Sentricon® stations are placed in the soil around the building, plus above-ground stations on active spots indoors where needed. There is no flooding of the soil with liquid termiticide.
3
Termites carry the bait home
Worker termites feed on the bait and share it through the colony. The active ingredient stops termites from moulting, so the colony gradually dies off, queen included.
4
Monitor and protect
We check the stations, top up bait as needed and confirm when activity stops. The stations stay in place to catch any new colony that comes looking for food.
Houses backing onto hillsides, forest or open land face more termite pressure, because colonies live in the undisturbed soil next to the property.
Many Kajang and Semenyih homes back onto slopes, reserves or empty land. Termites forage outward from those colonies and the nearest house is an easy target. For these properties, in-ground bait stations around the perimeter are particularly useful: they intercept termites before they reach the building and stay in place for ongoing protection.
In Bangi and Bandar Baru Bangi, many homes are spacious landed properties with gardens, and termites often show up first in garden timber, fences or tree stumps before reaching the house. Spotting them early outside can save a lot of damage inside, so it is worth checking the garden every few months.
