PJ is one of the oldest planned towns in the Klang Valley, and that history shows up in the termite work we do here. Many homes in the older sections have original timber that has been in place for decades, and termites have had a long time to find it.

Seen white ants, mud tubes or a pile of wings near your lights? WhatsApp us a photo and tell us your section or neighbourhood. We'll arrange a free inspection, explain what we find and give you a quotation.

Older PJ homes and termites

In established sections, single-storey and double-storey terraces and bungalows often have timber roof structures, wooden ceilings, parquet floors and built-in wardrobes from the original build. Subterranean termites come up from the soil through cracks in the floor slab, gaps around pipes and the joint where a later extension meets the original house, then work their way into the timber out of sight.

Mature gardens are another factor. Big old trees, stumps left after cutting and timber landscaping are common in PJ, and they can host termite colonies right next to the house. During an inspection we check the garden and the perimeter as well as the inside.

For condos and apartments around Kelana Jaya, Kota Damansara and Mutiara Damansara, termites typically arrive through wall cavities, planter boxes and service shafts. They can reach upper floors, so we inspect high-rise units too.

Termite damage inside a cabinet

Signs of termites in Petaling Jaya homes

Termites work out of sight, so most homeowners only notice them once there is damage. These are the signs our technicians look for first during an inspection.

  1. 1

    Mud tubes on walls

Pencil-width tunnels of soil on walls, floors, pillars or foundations. Termites build them to stay moist while they travel between the soil and your house.

  2. 2

    Tunnels under tiles and timber

Lift a loose floor tile or move timber that touches the ground and you may find soil trails or galleries underneath. Subterranean termites live and travel underground.

  3. Termite damage on a tree trunk in the grounds of a residential building3

    Holes in garden trees

Termites hollow out tree trunks, stumps and roots. Small holes or soil-filled cracks in a trunk usually mean a colony is close to the house.

  4. Termite mud tubes along a kitchen appliance shelf4

    Soil packed into cracks

Soil pressed into cracks, joints or gaps around door and window frames. Termites seal openings this way to keep out light and dry air.

  5. A termite inside a tunnel it has eaten through timber5

    Hollow-sounding wood

Tap door frames, skirting boards and cabinets. Wood that sounds papery or gives under a screwdriver is often eaten from the inside. You may also hear faint clicking in walls.

  6. Termites in a piece of rotting timber6

    Frass (termite droppings)

Tiny pellets that look like sawdust or coffee grounds, often under furniture or door frames. This points to drywood termites inside the timber.

  7. Flying termites (alates) with long, equal-length wings7

    Discarded wings

Small wings of equal size near windows, lights or door sills. Flying termites (alates, or kelkatu) shed them after swarming, usually at dusk after rain.

How the Sentricon® termite baiting system works

Spraying kills the termites you can see. Sentricon® goes after the whole colony, including the queen, so the problem doesn't come back from the same nest.

  1. 1

    Free inspection

We find where termites are active, how they are getting in and what has been damaged, then give you a quotation. No obligation.

  2. 2

    Bait stations go in

Sentricon® stations are placed in the soil around the building, plus above-ground stations on active spots indoors where needed. There is no flooding of the soil with liquid termiticide.

  3. 3

    Termites carry the bait home

Worker termites feed on the bait and share it through the colony. The active ingredient stops termites from moulting, so the colony gradually dies off, queen included.

  4. 4

    Monitor and protect

We check the stations, top up bait as needed and confirm when activity stops. The stations stay in place to catch any new colony that comes looking for food.

Pest control in Damansara

Yes, we cover all the Damansara neighbourhoods in PJ, including Damansara Utama, Damansara Jaya, Kota Damansara, Mutiara Damansara and Sunway Damansara.

Damansara is a mix of older landed homes, shoplots, offices and newer condominiums, so the work varies: termites in the roof timbers of a Damansara Utama house, white ants in the fit-out of a shop, or a condo unit where termites came in through a planter box.

The approach is the same: find the source, then eliminate the colony with the termite baiting system rather than spraying what you can see. Our Damansara area hotline is listed on this page alongside the main number.

If your address is on the PJ border with KL, Subang Jaya or Shah Alam, just tell us where you are. Boundaries make no difference to us, and the same technicians cover all of these areas.
