7 signs you have termites (white ants)
Termites work out of sight, so most homeowners only notice them once there is damage. These are the signs our technicians look for first during an inspection.
1
Mud tubes on walls
Pencil-width tunnels of soil on walls, floors, pillars or foundations. Termites build them to stay moist while they travel between the soil and your house.
2
Tunnels under tiles and timber
Lift a loose floor tile or move timber that touches the ground and you may find soil trails or galleries underneath. Subterranean termites live and travel underground.
3
Holes in garden trees
Termites hollow out tree trunks, stumps and roots. Small holes or soil-filled cracks in a trunk usually mean a colony is close to the house.
4
Soil packed into cracks
Soil pressed into cracks, joints or gaps around door and window frames. Termites seal openings this way to keep out light and dry air.
5
Hollow-sounding wood
Tap door frames, skirting boards and cabinets. Wood that sounds papery or gives under a screwdriver is often eaten from the inside. You may also hear faint clicking in walls.
6
Frass (termite droppings)
Tiny pellets that look like sawdust or coffee grounds, often under furniture or door frames. This points to drywood termites inside the timber.
7
Discarded wings
Small wings of equal size near windows, lights or door sills. Flying termites (alates, or kelkatu) shed them after swarming, usually at dusk after rain.
Everywhere termites usually enter, travel and feed: the ground floor and walls, door and window frames, kitchen and wardrobe cabinets, the roof space and timber, and the garden and perimeter of the building.
Floors and walls: mud tubes, cracks packed with soil, bubbling paint, hollow skirting
Doors, windows and cabinets: soft or hollow timber, frass, tunnels behind fittings
Roof and ceiling: damaged roof timbers and ceiling boards, especially in older homes
Wet areas: bathrooms, kitchens and around pipes, where moisture attracts termites
Outside: garden trees and stumps, timber touching the soil, drains and the base of walls

Is the termite inspection really free?
Yes. The inspection and quotation are free, with no obligation to go ahead with treatment.
We quote every job individually because no two properties are the same. A small apartment with one active spot and a landed house with termites in the roof need very different work. Seeing it first is the only honest way to price it. Find out what affects the cost of termite treatment.
When should you book a termite inspection?
As soon as you see any sign of termites, before you buy or renovate a property, and whenever flying termites (kelkatu) swarm inside your home.
We use the Sentricon® system, with genuine bait supplied by Corteva Agriscience (Malaysia), to eliminate the colony itself.

Free inspection, honest quotation

Frequently asked questions
How long does a termite inspection take?
It depends on the size and layout of the property and how much activity we find. We'll give you an idea of how long to set aside when we book.
Should I spray the termites before you come?
Please don't. Spraying scatters the termites and can hide where they are active, and the live termites are what carry the bait back to the colony if you choose baiting.
Do you inspect condos and apartments?
Yes. Termites can reach upper floors through wall cavities, pipes and shafts. We inspect landed houses, condos, apartments, shoplots and commercial buildings.
Which areas do you cover for inspections?
The whole Klang Valley, anywhere within about 2 hours' drive, including Shah Alam, PJ, KL, Klang, Puchong, Cheras, Subang Jaya, Kajang and Ampang.
